Amelia Demma is a New York licensed attorney and founder of Law Offices of Amy Demma, providing services to those engaged in assisted family building, specifically egg, embryo and known sperm donation as well as compassionate surrogacy.
Amelia Demma received her Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1987, and her Juris Doctorate from Yeshiva University/Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1990. She was admitted to the New York Bar in 1991. Early in her career, Amelia was a member of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association HIV Task Force aiding the children of homeless families and children of prostitutes who were being cared for by an HIV+ parent. Amelia also spent time providing services to disabled people through the Association For The Help of Retarded Children.
For the past 14 years, Amelia has been engaged in assisted family building with a focus on donor matters. She founded Prospective Families Egg Donation Agency and managed that company for 5 years prior to it being acquired by a national agency. Law Offices of Amy Demma, P.C. was founded in 2009, its services include egg, embryo and sperm donation, co-parenting matters, surrogacy matters as well as escrow services. Amelia Demma is an admitted Fellow at the American Academy of Assisted Reproduction Technology (AAARTA), a member of the Legislative Committee at AAARTA, a member of the Legal Professionals Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and a member of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Group of the American Bar Association.
Amelia is actively engaged in the nation's most established infertility patient advocacy groups and other non-profit and professional organizations. She served for many years as Vice President on the board at RESOLVE New England and in 2012 completed her tenure as President of the Board of Directors at RESOLVE New England. Amelia is currently serving as a legal advisor to Parents Via Egg Donation and to the Society of Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy.
Amelia Demma is a frequent lecturer at both professional and parent focused conferences and seminars. She has been quoted and consulted by major media and appears often as an industry expert in various forum.
Lastly, and most importantly, Amelia and her husband Ken, high school sweethearts married for 29 years, are the proud and blessed parents of college-age twins conceived through in-vitro fertilization.
