The Benefits of Finding an Egg Donor in Texas
Texas is one of the biggest states in the US and is home to a rich culture and diverse population. Additionally, the Lone Star State has some of the best fertility clinics and reproductive endocrinologists in the country.
Due to its large cities, accessible airports, and an array of top-rated fertility clinics, Texas has become a popular destination for intended parents pursuing third-party fertility care. Donor Concierge works with Texas fertility clinics with large pools of diverse egg donor candidates. We specialize in locating hard-to-find donors, including college-educated, Jewish, Asian, and more.
At Donor Concierge, we work with egg donor agencies across the state, including those with donors from the larger cities of Houston and Dallas to smaller areas such as Sugarland, Lubbock, and Austin. We can find your ideal egg donor and facilitate the donor's travel to your Texas fertility clinic if necessary.
How Egg Donors Are Screened in Texas
Donor Concierge partners with Texas egg donor agencies that follow strict standards set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). According to these guidelines, egg donors must pass multiple health screenings, including a physical examination, a pelvic ultrasound to gauge fertility, and an infectious disease screening. They must also undergo mental health counseling and provide their medical history for review. The ASRM recommends that potential donors be between the ages of 21 and 34 and physically healthy.
The Donor Concierge Egg Donation Process for Intended Parents in Texas
Step 1. Consultation and Intake
Your first step to finding your ideal egg donor is to schedule a complimentary consultation with Donor Concierge. Our team will get an idea of your fertility journey so far, as well as your egg donor preferences. If you choose to utilize our services for finding an egg donor, you will fill out our intake form, provide photographs, and make an initial payment.
Step 2. The Egg Donor Search Process
After the intake process is complete, your Donor Concierge case manager will get an in-depth understanding of what you’re looking for in an egg donor, as well as your family-building goals. Using this information, case managers identify prospective donors that fit your criteria and send their profiles to you for review, typically one profile every one to two days. Case managers also coordinate with the egg donor agencies and local medical clinics for physical screenings. The egg donor search process takes about two to three weeks to complete.
Step 3. Reserving Your Egg Donor
Once you choose your ideal match, Donor Concierge will connect you with their agency to begin the egg donation process. The agency will mostly manage the medical and legal steps, but we can refer you to a reputable reproductive attorney to draft all legal documents. Donor Concierge is here to support you every step of the way, and we have resources for whatever needs and concerns you may have.
Step 4. The Egg Donation Cycle
After the contracts are signed and the egg donor has passed her physical and psychological screenings, the egg donation process can begin. The donor will start medications to suppress her menstrual cycle and prepare her body for ovary stimulation.
To produce as many viable eggs as possible, your donor will self-inject hormones for 10 to 12 days. A doctor will monitor them closely throughout this process. Once the eggs are mature, the egg donor will take a “trigger” shot of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that signals to the ovaries to release the eggs. The eggs will be retrieved 36 hours later.
The egg retrieval procedure is fairly quick. The donor is placed under mild sedation while the doctor locates the mature eggs using an ultrasound wand. The eggs are then gently extracted using an aspirating needle and combined in a petri dish with sperm for fertilization. In some cases, a doctor uses a tiny needle to penetrate through the egg’s shell and inject sperm directly into the ovum’s center. This procedure is known as an intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
If undergoing a fresh donor cycle, the recipient will prepare their uterus to receive the fertilized embryo. However, many people have a frozen embryo transfer, where the embryo is frozen five days after fertilization and transferred to the uterus at a later date.
How to Find an Egg Donor Agency in Texas
Researching all of the egg donor agencies in Texas can be stressful and time-consuming. Questions to ask yourself when vetting potential agencies include:
- How long has the agency been in business?
- How many egg donors do they have available?
- Do they have the kind of egg donors I am looking for?
Rather than vetting dozens of egg donor agencies in Texas with no guarantee of finding your ideal donor, Donor Concierge can do it for you, honing in on candidates that match your qualifications as closely as possible. We’ll utilize our network of over 100 highly-regarded egg donor agencies in Texas so you can focus on preparing to grow your family.
Navigating Egg Donor Costs in Texas
Egg donor costs vary on several factors, including location, choice of donor, and which fertility clinic you use. Intended parents can expect to pay between $30,000 to $65,000 to cover:
- Egg donor agency fees
- Egg donor compensation
- Costs for medical processes, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), ICSI, and frozen embryo transfer
- Legal fees
- Travel and other expenses
Navigating the finances surrounding egg donation can feel daunting, but Donor Concierge can walk you through your options, including fertility treatment loans and grants.

Texas Egg Donation FAQs
Egg donation costs between $30,000 to $65,000 depending on location, choice of donor, and which fertility clinic you use. It also depends if you’re doing a frozen donor egg cycle. You can use an egg donor calculator to determine the cost of your Texas egg donor cycle.
Genetic testing cannot accurately predict whether someone will develop ADHD because there is no one “ADHD gene." Studies have found that the chance that a first-degree relative (child, sibling) of someone with ADHD will have this condition is 15-60%.
People who donate eggs are likely to have some genetic testing done. The tests will vary depending on your fertility clinic, and the number of carrier traits tested may differ. The most important factor is the carrier status of the sperm contributor. A qualified genetic counselor can help you determine the likelihood of a genetic carrier status being passed to your future child by conducting a thorough family history, combined with genetic testing of both gamete contributors.
Your donor egg search includes a thorough review of available frozen donor eggs at egg donor banks. However, we will need to confirm which frozen egg banks your Texas fertility clinic partners with. Also, your fertility doctor must advise how many frozen eggs you will need for a successful cycle.
