The Benefits of Finding an Egg Donor in Atlanta, Phoenix, and Other US Cities
The United States is the best country in the world to pursue third-party reproductive care, particularly in large cities like Atlanta, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Seattle, Miami, and Boston. These places are home to many top-rated egg donor agencies with access to a wide range of high-quality, diverse egg donors. Donor Concierge can connect you with hard-to-find egg donors throughout the country, including college-educated, Jewish, Asian, and more.
How Egg Donors Are Screened Across the US
All of the egg donor agencies that Donor Concierge partners with across the US follow the strict standards and guidelines set forth by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). The FDA requires that egg donors undergo a physical examination and an infectious disease screening. ASRM recommends additional measures such as psychoeducational counseling, a genetic screening, and a complete medical history review.
Additionally, the ASRM recommends that egg donors be between the ages of 21 and 34 and in good physical health, determined through a physical exam, including a pelvic ultrasound. The ASRM also stresses the importance of mental health counseling to ensure the egg donor understands her role in the family-building process and is emotionally and mentally stable.
The Donor Concierge Egg Donation Process for Intended Parents in the US
Step 1. Consultation and Intake
Finding your ideal egg donor begins with a complimentary consultation with Donor Concierge. You’ll speak with one of our case managers who will review your fertility journey so far and discuss what your preferences are for an egg donor. If you decide to move forward with us, you’ll fill out our intake form, provide photographs, and make an initial payment.
Step 2. The Egg Donor Search Process
After you complete your intake, your Donor Concierge case manager will work with you closely to gain a deep understanding of your egg donor preferences and family-building goals. With this information, they’ll identify prospective donors that fit your criteria and send their profiles to you for review, typically one profile every one to two days. Case managers will also communicate with the egg donor agencies and local medical clinics for physical screenings. The egg donor search process takes about two to three weeks to complete.
Step 3. Reserving Your Egg Donor
Once you pick your egg donor, we'll connect you with their agency to start the donation process. The egg donor agency will coordinate many of the medical and legal steps. Meanwhile, Donor Concierge will connect you with a reproductive attorney to draft all legal documents. We're here to help and support you through every step of the process.
Step 4. The Egg Donation Cycle
Once the legal process is complete, the egg donor will undergo her medical and mental health screenings. After passing those, she’ll start medications to suppress her menstrual cycle and prepare her body for ovary stimulation.
The egg donor will self-inject hormones for 10 to 12 days to increase the number of viable eggs donated. Throughout this process, she’ll be monitored regularly by a doctor. Once her eggs are mature, she’ll take what’s called a “trigger” shot of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that signals to the ovaries to release the eggs. The eggs will then be retrieved 36 hours later.
During the egg retrieval procedure, the donor is put under mild sedation while the doctor locates the mature eggs using an ultrasound wand. The eggs are then gently extracted using an aspirating needle and combined in a petri dish with sperm for fertilization. In some cases, a fertility specialist may perform an intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), where they’ll use a tiny needle to penetrate through the egg’s shell and inject the sperm directly into the ovum’s center.
If you opt for a fresh egg donor cycle, the recipient’s uterus will be prepared to receive the fertilized embryo. However, many people choose to have a frozen embryo transfer, which is when the embryo is frozen five days after fertilization and transferred to the uterus at a later date.
How to Find an Egg Donor Agency in the US
With so many quality egg donor agencies in the US, finding the right one can be overwhelming. Some considerations for intended parents to think about during their research include:
- How long has the agency been in business?
- How many egg donors do they have available?
- Do they have the kind of egg donors I am looking for?
Unfortunately, spending hours researching egg donor agencies in the US does not guarantee you'll find your ideal match. That’s where Donor Concierge comes in. We'll comb through our network of hundreds of egg donor agencies nationwide so you don't have to. That way, all you have to think about is what egg donor qualities are most important to you.

US Egg Donation FAQs
The US fertility industry is a dynamic and vibrant place with very liberal access to fertility treatment. All of the agencies include a question on their profiles asking donors if they'd be willing to travel. When you do an egg donor search with Donor Concierge, we're only going to send you candidates who have the time in their schedules to travel to your clinic. That way, when we find your ideal donor, you can trust that they’ll travel to your state if they don’t live there already. Being open to egg donors from all states will enable you to find the best fit for your family.
From start to finish, the egg donation process typically takes about three to four months. This involves finding your donor, having them undergo their screenings, completing all medical procedures, and transferring the fertilized embryos to the recipient’s uterus.
Most intended parents look for particular traits and characteristics similar to their own. It’s important to determine what qualities you value most and what qualities you’re willing to be more flexible on. Sometimes, you just click with a donor for no particular reason. Don’t be afraid to follow your heart.
According to current laws, donors do not retain rights to their eggs or resulting embryos after they donate. If you have additional questions, Donor Concierge can answer them as well as refer you to a qualified fertility attorney.
