Like a lot of fertility companies, Donor Concierge loves the hashtag #lovemakesafamily. The holiday season is often a reminder that families, and family-building, can be unpredictable, messy, yet so poignant and special.
Back 1968, a fun family rom-com movie called Yours, Mine and Ours came out starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. The comedy explored a group of people thrown together to make a “family”. (Our favorite line comes when Lucy’s at a dinner party and announces she has 8 children, the male guest next to her says ‘well don’t look at me, I just got here!’ ) There was even a (link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yours,_Mine_&_Ours_(2005_film text: 2005 remake) with Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo taking on the roles of blended family parents - this time with 18 children in the mix.
Families come together in so many ways - our goal in #lovemakesafamily is to empower our intended parents to feel confident in their decisions - whether that is choosing an egg donor or finding a surrogate.
But that starts with acceptance and knowing that you’ll need a lot of people to guide you and help you through the egg donation process.
During this adjustment time, you will likely do a lot of Google searches to educate yourself. You will see dozens of options, so called “guarantees” and personal journey stories. You might think, “Fine, that worked for them, but what about me/us?” You would be right. Everyone’s situation is different and deeply personal. What about you/us?
