Welcoming the Year of the Tiger: Fertility in 2022
February first marks the start of the Lunar New Year, and we are excited to begin the Year of the Tiger! Our team has worked with clients from China, Thailand, Singapore and beyond, and we are looking forward to the tiger’s spirit of adventure and confidence as we help build families in 2022.
So, what does the Year of the Tiger mean for you and your family building journey?
The year of the tiger
The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year, begins February 1, 2022. The Chinese Zodiac is represented by 12 zodiac animals and 2022 will be the Year of the Tiger. People born in 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022 are Tigers.
A welcome change
2020 was the Year of the Rat, which is a symbol of abundance. Many of us now, however, may look back on the 2020 Year of the Rat as a year focused on survival and “getting through” our new circumstances. 2021 was the Year of the Ox, an animal known for stability and hard work. However, last year was also said to be one where we truly felt the weight of our responsibilities.
This year is not just the Year of the Tiger but the Water Tiger (each year in the Lunar Calendar has an associated element and animal). In comparison, last year was the Year of the Metal Ox, and the element and animal together brought us hard-working and even exhausting energy in 2021. This year, the water tiger should bring us some much needed strength and vitality. Water is said to represent agility and eloquence, meaning we should smoothly navigate 2022’s ups and downs. Phew!
This is good news to many of us working through a tough fertility struggle. If you felt exhausted and worn out on your fertility journey last year, we hope this year brings you renewed energy and peace.
Strength and adventure
The Tiger represents adventure, bravery and strength. Tigers are known to be courageous and authoritative, with high ambitions and the ability to pioneer and carve new paths for themselves. Tigers work tirelessly to realize their dreams.
If you’re starting a third-party fertility journey this year, we know the egg donor search, sperm donor search, and surrogate search can feel overwhelming at times. We hope you can channel the tiger’s strength and ambition, as well as the courage to branch out and go beyond the beaten path. The tiger is also known as the patron deity of children, which we think is a good sign!
We are grateful and excited to start the Year of the Tiger with our amazing international egg donation, sperm donation and surrogacy clients. Wherever you are and whatever challenges you're facing on your fertility path, we hope that 2022 is the year your family-building dreams come true!
