Happy Chinese New Year 新年快乐! 恭喜发财!
Starting this Thursday, February 19, 2015, millions of Chinese people all over the world will be celebrating the over 4,000 year old tradition of the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. Besides being the grandest and most important festival for Chinese people, it is also the time for whole families to gather together.
And family means children, babies, and generations of people, something that many of our Asian clients find missing in their lives. Donor Concierge has become a resource for many Chinese intended parents who come to the US for third-party fertility treatment.
According to Executive Director, Gloria Li, most of our Chinese Intended Parents look for egg donors who come from a more traditional and highly educated family background. Gloria, a fluent Mandarin Chinese speaker, works with many of our Asian clients. She says blood type is also something that intended parents of Chinese background strive to match when choosing an egg donor. Although she says a lesser emphasis has been put on this criteria lately.
We understand the sensitivity of these concerns - we know that our Chinese couples have not only been struggling with their infertility but also with breaking cultural barriers. Third-party fertility is still mostly illegal in China and we work hard to make it worth their travelling the long distance to the US for the opportunity to have a baby.
Our goal is to simplify the process by communicating in Mandarin as needed and by educating our Chinese Intended Parents about egg donation and surrogacy. For example, a child will not necessarily inherit the same blood type as the parents and may significantly limit their options for a viable egg donor by only looking at egg donors with the same blood type as them. We direct them only to the most reputable agencies and clinics and present the most qualified and available candidates at the time of search. As with all of our clients, we take the time to be their resource and advocate and maintain open lines of communication.
Here at Donor Concierge, it is our privilege to honor this celebration as we congratulate the many Chinese couples that have come to us for help in completing their own families. 新年快乐!恭喜发财!
